SFARI – Summer Institute for Autism Research – 18 June to 23 July

We invite you to join us for the Summer Institute for Autism Research — a series of six weekly interactive presentations designed for students, postdoctoral fellows and other early-career researchers interested in autism.

A new session will be broadcast every Thursday from 18 June to 23 July, featuring a live presentation from an invited expert on a key topic in autism research.

The lineup of speakers includes: Kevin Pelphrey (brain function and structure), Lynn Koegel (early intervention), Cathy Lord (diagnosis and identification),Matthew State (genetics), Jeremy Veenstra-VanderWeele (pharmacological pipelines) and Joseph Buxbaum (animal models).

(See below for the full lineup of dates, topics and speakers.)

Organized by the International Society for Autism Research (INSAR) and SFARI.org, the initiative aims to provide early-career researchers with in-depth overviews of autism research topics.

Each two-hour session will feature approximately 90 minutes of presentation, including background, emerging data and next steps for the field. This will be followed by 30 minutes of discussion moderated by members of the INSAR Student and Trainee Committee along with other junior researchers in the field. Participants will be able to ask questions and add comments during the session and expound upon implications during the discussion period.

They will also be able to download ‘course materials’ — which include suggestions for further reading, a glossary of terms, learning objectives and discussion questions — one week before each session. Registration is free.

Register now for Summer Institute sessions on the dates below. Video replays of each session will also be available on SFARI.org and autism-INSAR.org.
